FAQ Category: For Caregivers

What happens when staff turn over?

We rotate staff on purpose. A team of four to six people supports each client across activities and apartment checks rather than a single staff member. When one person leaves, the others already know your family member, the routines, and the goals.

How do I know my family member is being treated well?

You will hear it from them, and you will hear it from us. Kota’s culture is built on the same principles we ask staff to bring to clients: dignity, autonomy, and follow-through. Our 2020 APSE award specifically recognized our approach.

What if my family member’s needs change?

Plans are reviewed at least annually with your case manager and adjusted in between when something changes. We can flag a review at any point if we’re seeing changes during visits or activities.

What if I am no longer able to be the primary support person?

Your family member is supported by us regardless of changes in your situation. Kota’s services are not contingent on any specific family member being available. Your case manager can help connect guardianship, alternate contacts, and additional providers, we’ll work with whoever is named.
